ACCIONA continues to progress with the R&D Strategic Plan put in place in 2007, as well as with the lines of action laid down in the Plan. In 2008, ACCIONA invested 71.3 million euros in direct R&D projects, 83% more than in 2007.

This increase has allowed ACCIONA to make headway in the projects that are already in progress and to develop prototypes and demos. In addition, there has been an increase in projects and the number of staff. The industrial property management model introduced in 2007 has also been successful: ACCIONA has obtained 17 patents and has a further 31 pending.
