ACCIONA supports sustainable development at Expo Zaragoza 2008. In addition to its participation as a partner-sponsor, ACCIONA had its own pavilion related to the main theme of the event: "Water and Sustainable Development", a slogan which is closely linked with the company's strategic positioning

June

  • ACCIONA Windpower unveils its 3 MW WTG at the Windpower 2008 Conference and Exhibition (Houston, US). The generator has rotor diameters of 100, 109 and 116 metres, with the largest sweep of any rotor on the market in that capacity. The WTG will be installed on 100 or 120-metre concrete towers. In four years, ACCIONA has become the world's seventh-largest manufacturer in terms of MW supplied.

  • ACCIONA's new web site - www.acciona.com - is also accessible to people with disabilities. ACCIONA unveils its web site, designed to AA accessibility standards, with a modern look and with an international focus in line with the company's strategy. Accessibility at the AA level ensures that all persons with physical or cognitive disabilities will be able to use the web site, thereby reducing information barriers and encouraging the integration of people with disabilities.

  • ACCIONA apoya el desarrollo sostenible en Expo Zaragoza 2008. Además de su participación como socio-patrocinador, estuvo presente con un pabellón propio alineado  con la temática de la exposición, "Agua y Desarrollo Sostenible", lema que está estrechamente relacionado con el posicionamiento estratégico de la Compañía.

  • José Manuel Entrecanales receives the MDI 2008 Award for the "Top Businessperson in Construction and Real Estate Development", voted as part of the Masters programme in Construction and Real Estate Company Management at Madrid's Polytechnic University.

  • Consuelo Crespo Bofill, Chairperson of UNICEF España, appointed independent director of ACCIONA.

  • ACCIONA awarded the contract to expand the Convention Centre in Campeche (Mexico).

  • ACCIONA builds eco-efficient offices in Zaragoza. Cutting-edge technology will be used to construct the 10,700 m2 Oficinas Plaza building, with a view to avoiding the emission of 15 tonnes of CO2 each year, equivalent to the amount of CO2 absorbed by 1,250 trees per year.
